Inside Fiorenzato: The Evolution of Coffee Grinders & Showroom Tour

If you are as passionate about specialty coffee equipment as we are, you know that a great cup starts long before the water hits the beans. During our 2025 visit to Italy for HOST Milano, we had the incredible opportunity to take a deep dive into the world of Fiorenzato—one of our all-time favorite coffee grinder and equipment manufacturers.

While technical issues prevented us from sharing our full factory tour right away, we received an exclusive guided tour of their showroom from Sales Manager Andrea. From game-changing innovations like the Fiorenzato All Ground Sense (which I proudly use at home) to the powerhouse F83 E Pro Sense weight-based grinder we use in our espresso bar, Fiorenzato continues to set the gold standard in coffee precision.

1. The Evolution of Coffee Grinders: From the 1960s to IoT

To truly appreciate where coffee technology is today, Andrea took us on a historical journey through Fiorenzato’s early models:

  • The Past (1950s–1960s): Characterized by classic materials like Venetian glass, integrated push-tampers, and traditional star-dosing systems that dispensed fixed portions (e.g., 7g, 14g, 21g).

  • The Modern Leap: Over the decades, the focus shifted from just the espresso machine and barista technique to the crucial role of the grinder. This drove the evolution from basic dosing to on-demand grinding, grind-by-weight technology, and modern IoT cloud connectivity.

  • Apple-Style Simplicity: Fiorenzato’s core philosophy focuses on user-friendly technology, ensuring that both professional baristas and home coffee enthusiasts can easily navigate complex setups without the guesswork.

2. Standout Innovations & Equipment Highlights

Fiorenzato’s showroom showcased a line-up packed with cutting-edge features designed for both high-volume commercial cafes and home setups:

  • The All Ground Sense (Prosumer & Home Favourite): A revolutionary multi-purpose grinder that easily switches between espresso, moka, and filter coffee settings using an intuitive color-coded gear system. It features grind-by-weight technology, saving countless kitchen debates over grind size!

  • XGI & Ground-by-Weight Technology: Designed for high-volume cafes pushing thousands of coffees a day, the XGI system uses an isolated floating scale underneath the entire grinder body. This means routine bumps or vibrations won't throw off your exact dose, maintaining a tight precision window.

  • PRO System & Micro-Adjustments: The new adjustment gear system lets users dial in with 8-micron precision per point, making transitions between brew methods seamless. Plus, the quick-release head design allows for effortless cleaning and burr replacement in under five minutes.

  • Pietro Manual Grinder: A tribute to the company’s founder, this heavy-duty manual grinder features a unique vertical grinding orientation, a 60-gram bean capacity, and a zero-retention design that handles everything from Turkish coffee to filter brews with ease.

  • Roto-Dynamometric Tampers: Featuring ozone gas-spring technology guaranteed for 1 million cycles, these automated tampers deliver consistent 14kg pressure and even include interchangeable rings (53mm, 55mm, and 58mm) to eliminate chaneling.

3. Smart Connectivity and Precision Integration

One of the most exciting takeaways from the showroom was how Fiorenzato integrates grinders with espresso machines via flow meters. By reading impulses and seconds from the machine's extraction, the system automatically detects recipe deviations (like a shot running too fast or slow) and prompts the barista to adjust the grinder gear. Once adjusted, the system ensures your subsequent extractions are locked right back into precision.

Final Thoughts

Touring the Fiorenzato showroom was an absolute treat for any coffee geek. Their commitment to producing every single part in-house—combined with industry-leading innovations like the All Ground Sense and XGI technology—proves that they aren't just putting parts together; they are engineering precision systems.
