Meet Sam from Surf Street Cafe

Sam has been managing Surf Street Cafe for over six years, serving up incredible coffee with a side of beach vibes. Today, he's sharing his favorite Espresso Martini recipe, featuring Artisti Coffee. If you've never made one before, don't worry – Sam's got you covered.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Double espresso (freshly brewed)
  • 30 ml vodka
  • 30 ml Kahlua
  • 15 ml Frangelico (or your preferred hazelnut liqueur)
  • Ice
  • Optional garnishes: coffee beans, chocolate shavings

Step-by-Step Guide to the Perfect Espresso Martini

1. Brew Your Espresso

Start with a fresh double espresso. If you don’t have an espresso machine, don't worry – we'll explore alternative methods in future posts. For now, let’s stick to the classic approach using Artisti Coffee.

2. Prepare Your Spirits

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add:

  • 30 ml of vodka
  • 30 ml of Kahlua
  • 15 ml of Frangelico (or adjust to taste)

The Frangelico adds a hazelnut twist that enhances the coffee's flavor, but feel free to experiment with other liqueurs like Baileys or butterscotch schnapps.

3. Combine and Shake

Add your hot double espresso to the shaker. Sam emphasizes the importance of shaking with vigor – you want your martini frosty. Shake until the shaker is cold to the touch, ensuring the mixture is well-chilled and frothy.

4. Pour and Garnish

Carefully strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass. For a professional touch, garnish with a few coffee beans or a sprinkle of chocolate shavings.

5. Enjoy!

Take a sip and savor the rich, velvety blend of coffee and liqueur. Whether you're making it for a gathering or as a personal treat, this Espresso Martini is sure to impress.

Tips for the Perfect Espresso Martini

  • Use Fresh Espresso: Freshly brewed espresso provides the best flavor and crema.
  • Overdo the Ice: More ice ensures your martini stays chilled without becoming diluted.
  • Shake Vigorously: A good shake creates that signature frothy top that makes an Espresso Martini irresistible.
